The University of Tasmania's annual pitching competition for BIG ideas
Delivered for the first time in 2018, the Big Idea Challenge is a brand new competition for students (and alumni) at the University of Tasmania. The competition seeks to unearth interesting and innovative ideas (and the passionate and ambitious people they belong to) across three categories: Commercial, Social Impact and Internet of Things.
At the beginning of May we started out with 250 students. 40 progressed to the Bootcamp round, and we’re now down to the Final 12. Who will be 2018’s Big Idea winners?
Winners will be announced at the 2018 UTAS Big Idea Challenge Awards Night which will be held at Enterprize Launceston on Mon 30 July 2018.
Ideas can be entered in one of three different categories.
This category is for ideas with the potential to become successful commercial businesses. Does your idea solve a genuine problem for people, serve a large potential market and do something new or different? Even better.
This category is for ideas that will have a positive impact on our communities and the world beyond. This could be an environmental, social or other not-for profit idea that helps those who need it most.
Internet of Things
This category is for ideas that involve Launceston’s Long Range Low Power LoRa network and use the Internet of Things to create innovative new projects, products and services for businesses and residents.
